About MRs. Will
Mrs. Will is a vocalist and trombonist originally hailing from Shrewsbury, MA. After receiving her BM in Music Education from the University of Miami's Frost School of Music, where she was named Most Outstanding Graduating Senior, Mrs. Will moved to Poland on a Fulbright Grant to teach English and Music at Kazimierz Wielki University. Upon returning to the United States, she began her studies at William Paterson University of New Jersey where she received her MM in Jazz Studies and Performance and served as the Graduate Assistant for the Jazz Studies program. While in New Jersey, Mrs. Will worked at Eastern Christian School in a variety of capacities that included: Honors Choir director, Resource Room teacher, After School Music director, and Summer Camp director. She also served as a music teacher in New Brunswick, NJ, teaching elementary general music and directing the middle school choirs.
Making music, teaching, learning, and traveling are just some of Mrs. Will's passions. Aside from Poland, she has traveled to Italy to study opera and trombone performance and India to study dhrupad (classical Hindustani vocal music). She has taught general music in South Africa and has performed as a vocalist in jazz clubs in Paris and Warsaw. Other highlights include performing with the New York Voices, Joe Alessi, Gloria Estefan, and the Marble Collegiate Festival of Voices in Manhattan, where she was a featured soloist under the direction of Dr. Peggy Dettwiler.
Mrs. Will's Philosophy of Music Education:
Music is inherently human. Therefore, everyone - regardless of age, ability, or developmental level - can relate to and express themselves through music. It is important for students, in the end, to find their own meaning in the music they make, for meaningful learning is how education connects each individual to the world around them, serving to better our world and those we share it with.
Mrs. Will's Favorite Music Quote:
"Sing like your heart will break if you don't." -David Maslanka
